Searched for an answer to this on this forum but couldn't find one. I just tried replacing the battery on my 06 s3, but apparently, the "new" battery (a spare I bought a while ago) wasn't charged. I hooked it up to a battery tender, but my tachometer needle is now on "5" instead of "0". When the nearly-dead battery was hooked up and the ignition turned, the needle still moved up and down, but instead of "0" to the red line, it starts at "5" and goes to the "6:00" position.

Any thoughts of how to fix this?

Thanks!

did you check the voltage on the battery? If the battery is damaged from being drained for an extended period in a way that only lets it hold a 6 volt...your battery tender will say its fully charged at 6 volts. If you dont have one you can get a voltage meter at your local home improvement for under $10. Id check that first as long as your sure you didnt do something to fry your computer by hooking up the battery backwards.

....actually thats all I got. No more ideas.
