Hi everyone ,
i ride a 2013 america that suffers from snatch when bringing the power back in from low revs no matter how careful i am or what gear,I have read about exhaust change ,air filters air box removal and electronic gizmos but is this really necessary ? is there not a simpler solution?

Secondly does any one know where i can obtain a tachometer from a speedmaster efi 865 ( black face ) i understand i can install this to my america , there are plenty of examples on the internet that have, i contacted Triumph but they told me it would not fit and is no longer available,i am trying breakers but they seem to fly out the window pretty quick, the only ones available are outside the uk and very expensive.
Any ideas welcome.
regards

Try adjusting the throttle cables and then the throttle bodies.
I can't imagine why a Speedmaster tach won't fit an America.

Really, there is not much difference between an America and a Speedmaster. Just some minor bits. One of those is the tachometer. The Speedy has one. The America does not. The wiring for the tach is under the gauge cluster on the tank. Just buy one for a Speedmaster of the same year and plug it in. My America has an aftermarket tach that I bought (quite a bit cheaper) from DimeCityCycles.com ...J.D.

I think the tach was a factory option / accessory for the America.
I've had 3 Americas, two of which had one.
I think you just need a carb or efi tach, not necessarily the same year.

True about the carb or EFI thing. That, and white or black faced dial was the
difference. Dealers had the accessory tach in stock at one time, but they were awfully expensive (like all the factory accessories). ...J.D.

When I bought my 2013 new, and had the dealer add a tach, he told me straight up it was a Speedy tach, so they fit and work. My only problem is the case seal is not tight and a little condensation has fogged the glass. I need to look into taking it apart and permanently sealing it from outside humidity, which is as bad or worse than in the UK.
As far as the "snatch" - with help from the Forum (Matty) I removed the air injection system using the kit (available from your local aftermarket sites), removed the exhaust gas O2 sensors (also using a kit) and installed a TuneECU program that disabled the O2 sensor system, and the angels sang over my bike. The previous off idle stall that embarrassed me at many a stop light has been gone ever since.

Your complaint about "snatch" got me to thinking about the amount of play in the cush drive, so here was a little experiment that has paid dividends. I had some vinyl coated foam pads, (the origin of which I cannot remember) laying around that I cut to fit and stuck to the unloaded side of the cush drive. They are about .2" thick and nicely fill the large gap left by what seems to be an ill-fitting cush drive. (To check, lift the bike off the floor and see how much play there is between wheel movement and sprocket movement.) This has helped a good bit with the jerky acceleration from no throttle to throttle. Unless someone can point out a good reason not to do this, I recommend it for improved smoothness.
