im trying to get a feel for how long these engines may last in terms of millage before any major work is required, i have a speed triple 95 t300 with 26000 miles. im asking on here because i imagine some of you trophy riders may have done many more miles than that. what are your experiences and what millage do you have on your machines?

I was speaking with a Triumph dealer regarding servicing costs a week or so back.

I asked the same question as you, and was told that the 1200 engine should easily see off 100k if looked after, and the 900 around 80K. Naturally some extra servicing costs are needed to ensure a reliable motor.

I rode my 95 Sprint over 100,000 miles before replacing it. I replaced the sprag clutch and the timing chain went at about 75,000 miles. Not cheap replacements, but overall not much for 100,000 miles. It's still running but for someone else now.

Don't worry about the durability of those engines. They are often described as overbuilt and bulletproof.

On top of that, There's plenty of power and I love the sound.

Buy it. You'll like it.
