salut!

I have a small oil leak from tacho drive on T140v 1978. Apparently some of these drives are RH thread and others LH thread. Any idea which this one is?
To remove the drive to make a good seal is it just a question of taking off slotted cover plate, remove cable and undo drive?
Any info welcomed and much appreciated.
Cheers!

The end plug is RH thread, once that is off you will need some small nosed pliers to pull out the worm gear. There is a hex headed bolt with holds the gearbox to the crankcase, on my bike ('79) it is LH thread. You will need a 7/16" AF socket with a small body to get on to the bolt, I have a 1/4" drive socket that does nicely. There should be a Dowty washer between the crankcase and gearbox. Check that it isn't the gearbox itself that is leaking, there is a welch plug in the bottom of the thing that may leak.
