Hi,

I am in the process of re-covering the seat on my 140D Bonneville Special. The kit I bought contained 15 steel clips similar to the ones I found when removing the original cover.

I have read John Healy's very nice article on re-covering, but I could not find any reference to these clips, Otherwise the trim seems similar to the one he used.

Should I put the clips to the side and not use them?

Thanks, Helge.

Hi Helge,
The clips will hold the seat cover in position, they need to be used. The trim is there to hide the clips.
Be careful when fitting the clips, if the sharp corners accidentally dig in to the vinyl they can easily tear the cover.

Regards
Peg.

Thank you, Peg.
I will use the clips then, and take care when pushing them on.
Helge.
