Hi all

My recently acquired 2004 Tiger is a great bike except for the front suspension. At low speeds the forks dive like a hunted Dolphin.

According to the shop my bike already has Triumph uprated fork springs and rear shock. Do any of you knowledgeable folk know how to improve it's need to dive ?

Suspension is a black art to me. I tried to improve it on my Daytona 1200 but after hours of fiddling I ended up back at the standard settings !

Triumph uprated fork springs?? Never heard of them, mines got Hyperpro Springs and 15wt Oil, but Hagon do em as do Wilbers, 15wt might be a bit much for some, they are pretty solid until they warm up. Is yours a spoke wheel or ally wheel bike?

Hi thanks for the reply

It's a ally wheel version,I think the up rated bit might have just been dealer sales speak. I was over in South Wales today, unfortunately in the car.

Nice roads around Newcasle Emlyn & Cenarth, I'll go back over on the bike later in the year.

Hi John,

I would stick some 15w oil in. I did that last time and it transformed the bike for me. Ok, it's a bit more of a bumpier ride round the back roads, but the fork dive under heavy front braking is taken away. You get much more feel for what the front end is doing under braking.

Do a search, there's a few threads on it :)

Tiger wants me over the bars

What about the rear suspension? I had turned the preload to full for 2 up,then back down for single rider. Now the tiger wants me off its back at every bump in the road, good thing I raced motocross for many yrs or for sure I,d be over the bars.Just one quick question, is it normal for it to not have ckickers in the front suspension? The settings are there but when I turn them, I don't feel the clicks as I did on my ninja or my factory cr?

Hi john
My 01 tiger has a wilber rear shock with the front having racetech springs and a emulator kit put in as well and it works fantastic , true it does cost but the results are well worth the money I have 137000 km on mine .The standard suspension as you have found is NOT UP TO THE JOB .Go after market it the only way to go
