Any California residents out there know if turn signals are a legal requirement on ALL bikes or just new ones. My '73 TR7 has no signals. The person I bought it from said they are not required on bikes manufactured before a certain date (kind of like seat belts on old cars or a headlight that isn't hardwired to be on all the time). Anyone know if this is true? I can't find any info on the dmv or chp websites.

The link above states that motorcycle's 1973 and later must have indicators.

Scroll towards the bottom of that page...it's somewhat offset to the left side.

In Victoria, motorcycles manufactured after June 1975 must be fitted with indicators.

Thanks OZ Bloke - Mine's Jan '75 so I guess I'm right, however, I'd like ot fit indicators - imagine it's not an easy mod!

As far as I know, all T140V's came standard with indicators, so your's should have the wiring in the loom, unless PO has put another loom in it. L/H handlebar switch should have the indicator switch in it. Should already have the holes in the headlight ears, and in the grab rail. Lamp wires are green/red and green/white. Have a look in the headlamp shell, and see if they're there. Short and long indicators are readily available, as is the flasher can.

Yeah the holes are there, have to check the wiring.
