I am considering ordering a set of Woodcraft 2.5" Rise Clip Ons for my Street Cup. I am really happy with the position of the Ace bars and based on my guestimations, those clip ons should be really close to the same height. The purpose to getting them is to clean up the triple tree area and get rid of the bars and risers.

Has anyone installed Clips ons on their Cup or Twin? If so, what brand did you go with and why? What are you thoughts on them? (Pics would be awesome too)

Based on replies, I am guessing that nobody has installed clip ons on their Twin or Cup......until now :grin2:

I went ahead and ordered the Woodcraft 2.5in rise 41mm 7/8in bar (link in previous post) from A and J Cycles and the Rizoma Triple Clamp Hole Cover Kit from Revzilla.

Here are the results. I was able to use the factory 7/8 bar with no issues which saved a lot of time not having to transfer everything to a new bar. Not having heated grips would have made it much easier too. You do have to pull the top triple tree, which came off quite easily (need a 38mm or 1.5in socket).

The position of the bars are near identical to the stock ace bars, at least close enough that I can not feel a difference.

That actually looks fantastic. Way better than the standard Clubman style bar they come with. I have the Street Cup as well and am looking to go in another direction. I'm going to put either stock Street Twin bars on it or get a Biltwell Tracker bar. Nice job!

In case you don't already know, you will have to extend or replace the clutch cable and front brake line with longer ones. The stock ones offer little to no room for movement. Not sure if you have to extend the throttle as well.

Hi Ash, I'm looking to do the same on my Street Twin, replacing the clubman bars with clip-ons.

It's actually a necessity for me, because I'm mid-way installing a fairing and there's no turning back now, LOL

May I ask you some clarifications on how to get on with it, as I'd prefer to do this on my own but haven't much wrenching experience, less so with removing upper yoke.

Would the following steps be correct?

1) release the handle bar tubes from bar
2) undo the riser bolts, remove risers and bar
3) remove upper yoke -->is this safe? I would hate to see the bike crumble to the ground in large pieces at this point .. ahah
4) install the clip ons onto forks
5) re-attach the bar tubes to the clip ons
6) re-attach upper yoke to top tripe tree

And, can the work be performed with the bike on the sidestand?
I hate to sound paranoid, but apparently "straightforward" jobs can easily turn out to be a pain here! Thanks

I may be wrong, but don’t the woodcraft bars have 2 piece clamps to allow fitting without top yoke removal?
They do, but do to the fairing and gauge assemble, you can not fit the clamps through and around the fork tubes. You need to remove the top yoke/triple tree which is actually quite easy.

STwin Runner; The process is exactly as you described. I did all the work while the bike was on the side stand. You can safely remove the top yoke without any worry of the front end falling off. Mine came off easily wiggling it by hand once side bolts were loosened and the top nut removed.

I put Woodcraft clip ons on my T-120. The only issue I had was the clutch cable and brake line lengths limited to how I positioned them. I did find a suitable setup without having to swap any lines.

And I love the riding position.

A&J Cycles, Forum Sponsor is a great source for them by the way.

Ashveratu, what did you use to cover the existing holes in the triple clamp?

STwin Runner, what fairing are you installing? any photos?

Thanks
A triple clamp hole cover kit has been mentioned already in post #2 above.

I'm trying to install a Thruxton S fairing, but it needs quite a few adaptations b/c it's so low and not plug-and-play for the Street Twin. I cannot confirm yet whether it will all fit and work together, just trying to overcome one issue/obstacle at a time for now. Fotos gladly to come.

Thanks for the infos Ash.

So, in order to install the clip-ons together with the fairing, a Street Twin definitely requires a different, shorter clutch cable. The stock cable has long metal sleeve at the beginning that prevents the cable from bending near the lever, so I’m seeking one that is shorter by about 7-9 cm and without the metal sleeve.

The stock cable measures about 114,5 cm, I was then able to measure a Thruxton R cable at roughly 100,5 cm that hasn't the metal sleeve, but it may be a too short I’m afraid.

Ashveratu, the Street Cup cable doesn’t seem to have the metal sleeve, and may be just right. Any chance you would be able to measure it?

Gabbydad, you mentioned the Bobber clip-on kit to have a shorter clutch cable, I wonder if it may be suitable as well, have you any information about its length or presence of metal sleeve?

OmegaRacer has a fairing for the street cup - no need to modify a thruxton fairing. I ordered one for my street cup last week.

I was hoping someone had tried this on an ST or SC. I've got clubmans on my ST now, but have really wanted to make the drop to clip-ons as I really like the feel and look. Thanks for all the info, links and pics.
