I currently have the Staintune reverse megaphones. I was wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to compare these vs. the predators? Either one significantly better than than the others in fit, finish, sound, performance, etc?

Thanks for your help!

if straight pipes on a harley are a 10, then predators are about a 6.5-7.

Definately louder than the TORs, and they will set off car alarms but they can be relatively civil at idle.

Predators sound fantastic, and they are polished stainless with a steel baffle, no repacking and no rust, ever.

Quality is first rate. I can't comment on the Staintunes, but I love my pred's.

I heard both of them in Daytona last year, The guy I talked to had the preds on his race bike and stain's on his street bike. He said he thought the preds were too loud for the street. I bought the preds anyway, very very happy with the finish and the sound. I thought they sounded fine. Maybe a bit loud, but way quieter then a harley with straights and to be honest, if you are in the neighborhood, short shift and you won't even turn a head.

I'm running pred's....and while I've never once set off a alarm with them...I dont think they are far from it. I have another set of cans that are more free flowing louder...but dont make the low end power that the pred's do...

Let's get together in the spring, I'm intrested in hearing the staintunes.

I'd be up for that! Nice looking ride, btw. I saw it in the galleries.

Did you cut up your airbox yourself? or get a kit? If you got a kit, is it difficult? I'm kind of a novice mechanic...

Also, as far as the staintunes go, if harley with straight pipes is a 10, then staintunes are probably a 5-5.5. I really LOVE the way it sounds when I roll on the throttle though. keeps plenty of attention when I want it too.

My only complaint so far about the staintunes? pricey.

The price on BCustoms is for a pair, right? very reasonable if you ask me.

Thank you...

I got a removal kit from BC, if your considering buying one you could save yourself a pretty good chunk of change by modifying your existing airbox. You'd need to buy jet's, pod filters...I have a carb brace I could sell ya for a couple bucks...and you'd be set.

If you think this is beyond your capability, let me know and I'll help ya out.

As opposed to paying 300.00+ The money you save can go to something else for the bike.

The pred's are probably about the most worthwhile thing they sell regarding bang for the buck. Your going to find that the aftermarket item's for our bike's are quite pricey to put it politely...if you arent careful, you could find yourself getting the no butter treatment.

Ever been to Capitol Area Triumph?

Pretty good buncha guy's in there, stop in sometime, tell'em I Sheldon said Hi.

I have preds on my thrux and staintunes on my MH duc. IMO the preds are too loud. They are both excelent quality. it's interesting that some of you compare the sound to hardleys, the preds remind me a little of a hardley sound and I'm not a fan. I'd be willing to trade my preds for a perfect set of staintunes. anybody?
Mike

BTW the duc with staintunes is no wispering willy. It'll turn some heads too.

FWIW... Sean at British Customs had told me to expect an 8 Horsepower gain w/ the predators.

The Staintune factory website makes the following statement; "... the Bonneville fitted with Reverse Cones produced an extra 12 Horsepower over the standard exhaust system."

I can attest to Staintunes claim of a huge gain in throttle response and mid range torque. Also, I think the Predators look a little bulky compared to the smaller Staintunes.

On my Thruxton, I’ve had Staintunes, D&D’s and now, Predators. The Predators are definitely the best sounding of the three. Louder (but not as LOUD as the D&Ds) and a deep throaty sound. And, there was a noticable increase in power between the Staintunes and Predators. They have simillar looks, quality, fit and are both stainless steel with a polished finished. Best of all, the pred's are $200 - $300 cheaper.

I got news for you, that Duc turns heads sitting still and quiet. Even tho the exhaust tune is nice, it really has but wee bit of influence why people are staring. Saw one in person couple weeks back - I was bitten and will be owning one soon. Nice bike. ;)

As for the exhaust comparison - I have preds. Love em. The GF has some D&D (very loud compared to mine). I don't have experience with comparing the two (preds/stains) with sound - but a saw a set of pee-shooter stains. The quality of the workmanship was topshelf. Very nice piece.

And this comes from the "guy" who cried "Mod" over $10. All because he hadn't sold his mirrors when I listed the same ones for $10 less. I've never seen such a drama queen in my freakin life... what a wienie!

This had absouletly nothing to do with you. But I guess any attention is still attention though, right? Did your Mommy not love you enough???
Merry Christmas sweatmachine... :chug:
