Staintune Reverse Cone Mufflers-Do they come with removable baffles?

3062 Views 14 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  steve-bedder
I just purchased a pair of used Staintune reverse cone mufflers on ebay and they look great. At idle and low rpm they havea nice throaty sound. They are a little louder at full throttle than I anticipated and I think I may just need to get used to them compared to my TOR pipes that were on the bike. I thought that the Staintunes would have removable baffles at the front inlet pipe but this set did not.

Do they actually come with removable baffles? If they do can these be purchased separately?

Thanks.

No... the Staintune reverse cones do not (have a removable baffle). Although the Staintune classic replicas do.

Do the classic replica baffles go in the inlet pipe or out the rear?

I'm wondering if they go in the inlet pipe if the can be fiited to the reverse cone mufflers.
Welcome to the Staintune family! (Pics please.) Probably my favorite mod to my bike. Enjoy!

Motoleo,

Sorry, but the baffle is in the rear of the muffler, not the inlet.

Thanks. I'll try and get a few pics over the weekend and post them.

Road dog,
Thanks for the link!
Another question or two for the Staintune group...What do you use to polish your mufflers? Is the Satintune polish available and is it worth getting?

Thanks.
I've had Staintunes on my Thruxton for over two years now, and they look as new as the day they came out of the box. Very high quality and being stainless steel, require almost no maintenance. I use whatever wax/polish I happen to be using on the painted surfaces of the bike, I like Zymol right now, and also turtle wax in the spray bottle. (Sprayed on the polish rag, not directly on the bike - or the overspray gets on stuff you don't want it to).
I've got the Staintune polish it works good, but any metal polish would be OK.

Ditto foggy. I use whatever I happen to be using for the paint. Right now I'm using NuFinish paste which seems to work well.
Here is a photo of my Bonnie with the Staintunes

Sweeeeeet ride man! Nice paint, love the matching seat cowl. Staintunes looks downright proper on that bike. Great choice. :upthumb:

Thanks pabonne, compliments are much appreciated.

I just installed a chrome mesh headlight grille tonight and it makes the front end look a little more racey.
