I would like to remove the rear caliper on my Sprint to check the condition of the pads. Can this be done without removing the wheel ? I can undo the rear bolt but not the front one.
Advise please.

Hi,

I had a 2000 sprint and i removed the rear caliper to overhaul it and put new goodridge brake hose on. You can take it off by removing the chain guard first. put a rag over the chain (to save getting oily) and cover the caliper with a rag too to save scratching your wheel. Unbolt the caliper from the bracket and take it off that way. If you can take off the brake hose then you can take the caliper to your work bench and put the allen key in the retainer bolt heads and the other end in a vice and turn the caliper to undo the bolts ( you get more force that way). Thats what i did after spending a couple of hours trying to do it on the bike. Dont forget to use copper grease on the retainer bolts.

Hope this helps.
