Recently I took both dials and a box of bits (from the PO) too our local repairer. The dials had the early faces fitted but in the box of bits were the correct faces and needles abeit badly scratched and marked. I really did not believe that they could do much with them given their state. After a few days I recieved a call to say they were ready to pick up. The faces had been carefully touched up with the correct colour paint and fitted, the dials themselves tested and re-calibrated, all was good.
Speaking with the Tech who undertook the work I mentioned that I had found an instrument repairer on the Web in Chicago who was going to be my next port of call if He was unable to fix them. To my surprise, the Tech advised that in the past they had recieved Smiths dials from Chicago for repair! Whether or not from the same shop in Chicago or not, it seems I certainly took My dials to Experts.

Waiting on one more package from Shropshire and then will begin re-building the 1977 T140V.
