Just bought Speed triple 900 MK1 forks thinking to fit them to my 1996 Sprint 900. However, the Speed Triple forks are about 30mm shorter. Is this standard from the factory or is it a post factory setup?
I wouldn't mind lowering the bike a little, so might think about how to lower the rear end.
I'd appreciate advice from people who know these bikes better than me.

The 94 and 95 speed triples had forks which when set properly extended 28mm above the top yoke. For 96 the speed triple forks were flush. This suggests that the 96 fork stanchions were in fact 28 mm shorter. Not sure about the sprints tho. Suggest mount them flush and test to see any difference.

Surely if you mount them flush there will not be any tube there for the handlebars to slip over, you will just have a couple of bolts . I know this because I tried putting risers on my bars and had the same issue, had to drop the yokes down the legs a few mm.
