I know this is something simple but can somebody refresh my memory?
As we know some motorcycles have a Positive earth and some a Negative earth; when the battery requires charging over the winter months do you have to switch the charger leads round or or do you just connect Red to + and Black to - no matter the polarity?
Would it be the same if you were leaving the battery in situ?
Thanks

Confirmation with extra detail.

Thank you!!!

I take it then it doesn't matter if earth is + or - , the clips go on the same way for either polarity red to + and black to- ?
Correct, the battery is safe to assume red +, the way the bike runs the circuits are defined by + or - earth. Positive earth is largely obsolete nowadays.

Thank guys,
My Commando is positive and Triumph negative, going away for a couple of months and my wife will be charging batteries on optimate, and whilst writing down instructions the dreaded seed of doubt was sown in my mind!!!
