I bought some heated grips from the CBXman.com for my Sprint last fall and while browsing his site I noticed that they have a shim exchange program, as long as you have spent $50.00 with them in the past year you can participate in their shim exchange program. what you do is find out what size shims you need , order them form them they will charge you for them and cover the postage all you do is send in your old ones then they will credit your credit card!! Simple although you do have to wait for the post office, It's a good deal as their heated grips are only $54.95 and they do work very well. Honda CB shims work great in our bikes!! www.cbxman.com

Thats my understanding they are all 25mm dia shims and are available in .05 increments. If I anm wrong someone please correct me but my understanding is that our triumphs use 25mm dia shims?

Shims

Pre the 02 revision of the 955 to Gen 2 (generator on end of crankshaft LHS rather than above clutch, the 955i ran shim over buckets of the 25mm diameter you mention.

From the 955 Gen 2 motor onwards (including 1050 I think) they ran shim under bucket of 9.5mm diameter. The 9.5mm shims are used on many Japanese makes also!

Hope that helps

Well.. I see that the original post is a few years old here, and that CBXMAN has gone out of business since. Bummer. A shim exchange would have been nice as I am getting ready to adjust my valves.
Looks like one reasonable source for 25mm shims is here: http://www.sudco.com/CatalogJPG/297.jpg

This was found in thread: http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-forum/53030-anyone-know-where-to-get-valve-shims.html
As was stated in the thread above, the website is none too good but the toll-free phone number is listed on the main page.

FYI, Shims are usually exchanged on a one for one basis at dealers just like carb. jets.

Shims

If the shims need to be 'undersized' then any competent automotive machinest will surface grind them to the correct values you provide him with.
Ground shims should always be placed with the ground side facing the bucket.
