I'm in the process of negotiating for a new Bonneville Black. I could chose to include a Triumph summer windscreen, Triumph leather saddlebags and Triumph high backrest as part of the price. However, after spending much time reading this forum, I have been thinking that I might be happier if I purchase a Parabellum windshield, LeatherLike bags, and the Triumph tall backrest, installing these items myself.

I would rate my mechanical ability as a 5 or so in a scale of 1 to 10....1 being "don't know a wrench from a screwdriver", and 10 being "can disassemble and assemble an automatic transmission, blindfolded."

Given that self-assessment, should I have any problems installing the options listed?

Get the bike then find the modifications you want later. One reason we all love the Bonnie is the ability to work on it ourselves. No computers required....except this forum of course
