Went to get gas for the tractor so I could plow the driveway for the 4th day in a row and had to pry the doors open with a crowbar (the frost heaves the concrete base every winter and jams the doors shut until spring) I realized I probably won't be able to get in there again until March or so, so I took a couple of minutes to look at the Legend. As I forced the doors back shut I felt like I was locking an old friend into a cold dark prison.

Luckyeddy, that brought a tear to my eye and some unhappy memories of Minnesota to mind.

Cheer up! A couple more years of global warming and you'll be riding in shorts and sandals year round! :-D

You might also want to try 400 IU of vitamin D every day. It helps maintain a positive emotional state in the absence of sunlight and wards off SAD. (As much as winter sucks there's no reason to feel lousy about it.)

Jimmy I was sure you were going to tell him it is supposed to be 64 here today. Glad to see you did not rub it in.
Well, having lived in Minnesota (means "Frozen Tundra of He*ll" in a Native American dialect) I can thoroughly commiserate with Luckyeddy.

Also, the weather is here really terrible today what with the clouds, light drizzle and the really heavy dew this morning!

I hate winter. :(

Here in UK we're having an unusually mild one. But, I have garaged, partly dismantled and SORN'd my TB over winter, always intending to wait for the spring and summer months. (When younger I was a 12 month a year biker, but got tired of 9 layers of clothing, salted roads and picking up lots of *****). But that was "good air" today and a nice run on a dry road would have been very therapeutic. And the more I thought about it, the more miserable I became! I agree, it's a long winter, snow or no snow.

Agreed it was not what they predicted, but it will get worse this weekend, unless they are wrong again.
Well, Sunday is supposed to be in the low 60's and cloudy so I figure that with everybody watching the big game, I'll head over to Eagle Peak and make some holes in paper -- if the new springs for my S&W come in on time.

If there's more sun than clouds I figured I'd take the bike and do Nameless Road on the way, but if it's more clouds than sun I'll take the truck.

When I moved upstate NY (about 3 hours east of you) I was told there are 4 seasons- early winter, winter, late winter and next winter! I believe that around the late April snowstorm. Then when it's summer (third week in July) I remember how perfect it can be up here.

That sounds terrible. Human Beings and especially the sub species motorcyclists should not have to suffer such abhorrent conditions. Move somewhere warm. :-D

Its not all that bad, we had a beautiful moonlit night and as I live in the Lake Effect Snowbelt of Lake Ontario we have about 20" of snow which made for perfect conditions for a late night snowshoe expedition. We should get some more snow this weekend, hopefully the clearing skies at night will continue to let me get out and make the most of the season... :)

We actually had Ice and snow again yesterday and last night. More maybe expected today. I've only been on the bike twice over the last 3 weeks.
Heck last year I think it only got below freezing like once.

TxTri and jimmy, I thought I heard we had record lows coming this way. I don't see 'em. Wha happened?
Record high for today: 84 °F / 28 °C (1924)

Record low for today: 7 °F / -13 °C (1951)

It's impossible to have a new record low isn't it? I mean now that global warming is irreversable we should have record highs every day shouldn't we?

Al Gore (super genius, inventor of the internet, Nobel nominee, Oscar nominee, failed politician, prophet of doom) warned us and we have less than 9 years before the oceans rise and we're all dry-roasted like peanuts in a fossil-fuel powered oven.

Some folks don't take Al Gore seriously. Remember,he also invented the water-saving toilet that takes three flushes to do the job!

It was -7 (F) this morning. Drove off to go sking (it was supposed to be a balmy -1 or so). Got stuck on the Interstate. Went home. Too cold and drifty to put holed in the dirt. Told the wifey that I thought we could qualify for Minnesota plates this year with this kind of cold and snow in January.
