hi all and seasons greetings,

just noticed the other cold, fresh, morning that my exhaust was emitting the usual morning white smoke both from the usual place but also from the small (drain?) hole on the underneath of the can near the 3 mounting bolts.

is this normal!? i've never actually noticed it before, very noticeable on start up.

i always assumed that hole was some sort of drain hole for excess moisture!? but never seemed to have anything blowing out from it.

this is the standard can btw, i briefly swapped out for a carbon can co. can, and when i did i heard the standard had something rattling around in it.

anyway- any pointers or info always gratefully appreciated!!!

I can't remember mine doing this, it may have done but I never noticed, too focused on how cold it was probably, thank god for Gerbing!

johnny5! how the hell are you! hope the sp3 relationship is as strong as ever! hows the great white treating you (or should that be how are you treating it!?)

i'd never noticed this little bit of weirdness, in fact my wife spotted it on the way to work.

funnily i've only just switched back from the carbon can. having a bit of an before/after experiment.

it'll soon be up your neck of the woods for the 6k service. comes around too soon!!!! (£££ )

oh yes, roll on spring. i haven't felt my fingers for a week....
and theres salt on the roads.

I be fine thanks Johnny, she's treating me fine so far, she hasn't thrown me off in disgust yet anyway. Not enjoying the extra weight and height on these slippery roads though.

Did you sort the water problem out on your bike?

nah never did fully sort that water prob. has done it maybe 3 times in total i think. a bit intermittent. pure said to call them up/get it there when it does it. trouble is if i leave the bike for an hour ish it seems to have 'dried out?' and works. so can't even get it to them when it goes. very annoying.

anyway- a superb xmas to you and your family.

I started my bike up today(-1C) after it has been sitting in the shed since thursday night and got the usual steam/smoke out of the endpipe but never got any smoke from the drain hole although ther is some slight staining around the hole. If tere was something ratteling when you had the pipe off sounds as if something may have come adrift inside.
If the bikes running ok and its not rattling when riding it should be ok till you get it serviced though. and happy christmas
