I have a '70 Trophy with a stripped valve cover stud hole. I'm not sure if I should tap the hole to a 1/4 20 standard thread (the current threading is British) or if I should go the extra mile and install a 1/4 20 Helicoil. I figure the later will prevent any problems in the future with stripping the aluminum again. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.

P.S.- I know that 1970 and up is supposed to all be standard, but their are some British threads, namely the posts I'm referring to. I've researched and confirmed with parts suppliers. They were surprised too.

I would helicoil to the standard thread, so that all the rocker box bolts used are the same. Check the other threads, if they are suspect do them all.
