I am sure most of you in the UK will not be to pleased if the government introduce road pricing.

It could mean it will cost more than just the petrol to go out for a spin.

Anyway some similarly minded guy has started a petition on the official government web site.

Already over 80,000 have signed it.

I urge all to sign it and tell your friends.

I've signed up too - presently 83502 signatories (0830hrs on 4th Jan). Can't be doing with more taxes, riding will start to get expensive.

Road pricing and tracking devices on the main roads, enforced payment for parking bikesin bays in central london, increased road tax. Its going crazy out there. Immediately I saw this topic I signed up. Anything to stop this government extortionist rollercoaster.

Do you have to pay them in the States?

I travel through the Mersey tunnels each day and they are free for bikes .Feels great looking at the cars queuing up to pay

Bikes do pay tolls in NH. Of course I use alternate routes that go around them...

Bikes here in Pennsylvania have to pay tolls, on the PA turnpike from one end to the other is around 40 bucks now I believe. The harsh reality is you have to pay it if you want to get across the lower half of the state quickly as there is no other highway. The north route RT80 is rumored to become a toll road also. Get those signatures!

Fortunately, there aren't many toll roads in Oklahoma. Motorcycles do have to pay them... In theory. The toll used to be a lower price for bikes, but that was changed to the same as autos, long ago.

If there's a toll booth with a person working it, you have to pay. If it's an automatic toll booth/station, you can always go around the metal detector upon exit. This is a set of bars stretching across the center of the lane, but the things don't cover the entire lane. It's easy to just go around them, thus recouping unfair toll charges at manned booths. I do suggest you pull to a stop, and look for dropped change, however. Sometimes you can find over a dollar in scattered quarters, ect..

Some States, such as Oregon, are experimenting with GPS monitoring, in order to tax motorists by mileage, rather than tax them at the pump. Of course, they aren't supposed to monitor WHERE you travel, just the distance... I've got swampland in Utah for sale, if you believe that.

I hope you Islanders can defeat this. I know it's expensive enough on you guys, what with $7 gasoline to have to purchase. Best of luck.

i wish gas was only 7 bucks a gallon,its 9.85 dollars a gallon at curent exchange rates now,and going up all the time.

i wouldnt mind paying to travel on motorways,at toll boths,if the drop the tax on petrol,and tax discs,and actually repair the roads properly.

BUT!!...i am NOT having a spy in my car or bike telling somone where i am going or where i have been,so they can charge me for the miles i have travelled,they allready have cameras in middlesboro,with speakers attached,and someone in a control room watching,so if somthing happens he shouts at you over a loudspeaker.
and this is going nationwide this year!!!!

Wow, Marauder... $10 a gallon for gasoline? And no revolution, yet? Storm those hallowed halls, bring back the headsman, and clean house. Then swim over here and help keep things from going that far, in the Colonies. Before it's too late for us, too.

A few generations of clever social/corportate/globalistic politicians seem to have accomplished what the Blitz couldn't. Sounds like the Empire is on its knees, at last. I'm glad my grandparents didn't live to see it.

it used to be called GREAT britain,but it lost the GREAT a long time ago for me,we live in a nanny state where you cannot do anything without someone says it will hurt you.

and if you do find something that you enjoy, (motorcycling)they either pass a law to stop you doing it,or tax you till you stop,or make it so difficult to do most people give up.
