Has anyone changed out their battery on the Rocket III, yet? Bear Man needs to change out his battery. I do not recall anyone discussing battery options.

Thanks for any input. One he was wondering about is an odyssey. I think he has one in his Boss Hoss. Was just wondering if anyone has tried one on their Rocket or perhaps another brand?

$81.00 is pretty resonable for a gel battery from the dealer. A regular acid battery of that size from WallyWorld be around $45-50.00. Most important though, is to check the production date of the "new" battery to make sure you/he dosen't get one that's been on the shelf for a year or so.

Zorba, You aren't listing a Rocket III as one of your rides. Do you have one with this battery in it?

Thanks Bigern for your suggestions.

I just replaced my battery with the Yuasa YTX20HL-BS Battery. The only differences over stock is the 310 cold cranking amps (I think stock is 250) and it felt a little heavier.

Makes it a lot easier to start on the colder mornings.
I just got one of those too.....its charging as I write. Glad to hear it has the extra crank on cold mornings....I have been having to jump mine nearly every morning for the past two months.

How long have your batteries been lasting? I have my rocket covered in the garage with a battery tender in place. For those who are replacing the batteries did you use a tender during the off season? Thanks Lee

2 years 2 months so far in a garage and no problems yet. I put the Battery Tender on if I haven't ridden in in a week or more and it charges up in minutes.

Mine made it 18 months. The battery was confirmed totally dead at my neighbors shop. I did NOT have any type of trickle charger on it. (I was warned that the old trickle charger I had would overcharge and damage the newer batteries.) I have since purchased a Deltran Battery Tender and put the the permanent charge cable on the battery so that it isn't a hassle to hook up after each ride.
