What is the safest way to remove the intake manifolds from the head? Are the threads right handed or left? I used a 1 1/2 inch wrench and the lock nut seems extremely tight, didn't want to risk damage so I stopped. Any thoughts?? Thx

Somebody will shoot me down in flames if I'm wrong but generally, threads are only revised if there is a chance of the component coming adrift due to the thing that they are bolted to counter rotates.

The threads are normal R-H threads. You need a strong spanner that fits well.
After you loosen the lock-nuts,you'll need to unscrew the fittings for the balance tube.

Thanks Men, Was able to loosen the lock nuts, took more pressure than I figured on! Was able to drill and tap the manifolds and install a pair of Mikuni"s. Bike has been sitting for a long time, fresh gas and first kick started. I'm a happy camper!!
