Hi all, just recieved a recall notice for the drag link to top link bolt, sleeve and nut. They reackon it will take about an hour to do the job. It also states the recall is being monitored bk the Federal Office of Road Safety. The only concern I have is that the letter was dated the 12 Jan 2007?????.

Got my letter yesterday as well. It's only because of this web site that I knew about the recall and have my parts on back order.

Still toying with the idea of following up on the front brake issue as well, but plan to leave it a while till I know the dealer has heard about it.

Russ,
my bikes been booked in to have the recall done for about a week. Tommorrow she is off to my dealer, and he is giving me a Rocket for the day. As yet, no word on the front brakes but mine seem ok for now but if they are giving away new ones I'll take them.

Thats a good deal you give them a ST and you get a rocket for the day. Would love to have one for the day just I could real take it for a real test ride.

My bike in the shop as well and the City Coast Rat Pack have got a ride day this Sunday and they are going to give me the Daytona 675 from Saturday arvo until Monday morning :-D . So we are both going to be happy campers

Lucky guys. A Rocket and a 675.

Not bikes that I would like to keep for ever but fantastic for the day.

I wish mine had to have warranty work.
..... hold on.... no I don't.

You will both have to give us reports... Good luck.

Tankman, you've got a ***** good dealer. Mine didn't have the parts and had no word when they would be available the week before Xmas. Assuming my S3 test ride goes ok on Fri I won't be worry about this particular recall any longer :)

*****, I'd love a day on the Rocket and the 675 as well.

Det hoping to see you on Sun at Albion Pk. Will confirm Sat if I'm coming so ya know to wait for me to do the 130k to the ride starting point! :)

Russ just got back from having the recall work done. After pulling it apart they found the T3 BRG, N/ROLLER 15 22 Was full of small cracks the bolt its self was straight and looked OK. While there I had a K&N air filter fitted, and now the bike runs as rough as gut at 3000 rpm. The mech said that you only do a down load when fitting a new exhaust. Is that true? Or should they do a down load when fitting a new filter? The upside was this morning I got to ride the Rocket and to be honest it didn't impress me that much, found it a tad to big. In the after noon I got to ride the 675 which also failed to impress me, found that a tad too small, fussy bastard aren't I. For me my Sprint will do until they bring out a big banger Daytona.

Anyway safe riding to all and cya

Hi Tankman, as you'll see elsewhere I've avoided the recall by giving the bike back and riding home on a new Speed Triple :) .

I'm glad you got your's done before any other component broke down in the rear suspension. I guess if your's wasn't greased correctly then that could cause the bearing to overwork/heat and start to breakup.

Pity about the Rocket, but I do agree they're bloody big. Just riding the Triple home tonight I could feel the difference in weight from the Sprint, so the Rocket would be a rude shock to the system :)

Yeah the 675 is small, but no smaller than similar Jap sports bikes and definitely not as small feeling as ducati 996 and 999s. I'v4e got a mate who's 5'10" and gets off the duc after a 600-800km day ride without a kink in his body. Me I can't even sit on the thing comfortably! That said, I think the 675 would be something you could get used to :)

I'm not very technical but that tune doesn't sound right to me. Either they've put everything back together with an error (e.g crimpled breather pipe, or an O2 sensor knocked/disconnected etc) or the K&N makes the tune so lean, it DOES need to be tweaked. Maybe not a d/l, especially if they don't have a map for that, but durely they can play with the mixture for you.

Keep the rubber side down.

Russ.
p.s. oh, the Speedy comes with Pilot Powers front and rear not those silly BT020s, which is a bonus. Also much more adjustable suspension (which I'll have a look at after the 1st service when I'm a bit more used to the bike).

I had a problem w/ my starter. While I was there, the service manager looked up outstanding items and they found the brake recall with no problem and took care of it right then.
