Why didn't triumph just add this to the bike? on the 05+ I think it should be there as you get all the crud sent right to the back of the shock, engine area and the frt gear the chain rides on. It just does not make sense to me...do you all agree? :hammer: :???:

I gotta agree with you, why didn`t triumph fit a hugger. and a cruise control too

thats partially why I fitted the ABS shield on a non ABS bike, this helps cover the shock, and the mod is much cheaper than a hugger, approx GBP£18.
there are 2 brackets T2020177 & T2020179
The plastic ABS shield T2020175
and 2 M5 x 16mm socket head black screws T3330087

the brackets fix to the 2 bolts that fix the lower seat rail to the frame

Without money from all of there acessories they'd be out of business

Seriously, it's another way to make a buck, yen, pound, etc etc.
Too true - I had a long conversation with one of the sales reps at my local and he told me that they don't make much money on selling the bikes or even on the servicing but make a killing on aftermarket parts... So I imagine the same rings true for Triumph.

When I asked my dealer why Triumph don't make or fit a hugger , he said Triumph consider it too dangerous in case the suspension collapses and the exhaust hit the hugger. What a load of *****. I fitted a Skidmark hugger to mine and its been great at keeping the shock clean. I also trimmed the bottom of the ABS cover to prevent it catching on the hugger.

I think Triumph are missing out on a profit making chance as most of us fit a hugger anyway :)

But beware that the hugger for the S3 won't work on an '06 Sprint w/ ABS - No "capped holes" in the front part of the swingarm to mount it...went through that a few months ago. Ordered one from Jack Lilley, just recvd today - Haven't mounted it yet, but Mr. Lilley assured me it would work on my 06 w/ ABS

sorry if this is redundant and a sounding like a stupid question... but I'm not really following....

is there one available for an 06 with abs?
I would prefer carbon fiber or something that I can paint matt black to match the frame.

thanks

Thanks Iceman and DaveM. I have ordered a powerbronze in carbon fibre look for my 05/06 ABS Sprint.
I intend leaving the Triumph ABS cover of (doesn't fit anyway since i replaced the shock).
I was impressed by your pics and glowing reports.
Will let you know when it arrives, at present there is about a 5 week wait.
Cheers Gavin. :) :) :)

Just to clarify, do you think the S3 hugger would work on a 06 Sprint "non-ABS" model?

Currently have a Powerbronze hugger on order but prefer the look of the S3 version a little more.

Sorry to ask you guys to spell it out for me but I just don't want to cancel my existing order only to find out the S3 version wouldn't work. I can't check the swing arm for the holes since the bike is still sitting in the box waiting to be assembled.

Thanks

Jack Lilley sold me a hugger for my '06 ABS and I paid my dealer to install it. It looks terrific and does the job.

Here is the thread concerning the Speed Triple hugger:

Speed Triple Hugger

See my pictures toward the bottom of Page 1. If you have the 3 threaded holes on the top of your swingarm, you would have no issues mounting the Speed Triple hugger on the Sprint ST 1050.

BoBubbaBill,

that hugger looks awesome. Spoke with my dealer who just happened to me making the S3 hugger work on another customers Sprint. Said they'll make it work one way or another.

thanks for link to the pics.

I was looking at Powerbronze' site right now, saw that all of their prices include VAT, which if I understand correctly is the UK's sales tax? Does anyone know if powerbronze drops that charge on orders shipped to the states?
This parts dealership had 2 Powerbronze Rear Huggers (carbon fiber look) on the shelf last week. They're located in Michigan. Cost $149.00 us plus shipping.
