Rear Brake Noise

This may be a stupid question because it may just be time to have the brakes replaced, but I'm getting an odd flipping noise while I ride that quiets down when I actually apply the brakes. Has anyone else experienced this or does it just sound like it's time to get 'em changed. Thanks.

Mine was making noise, and it was time to replace the pads. I did, cleaned everything well, and still had noise.

I had to put some of that antisqueel on the pads today.
