My rear brake lever is broken.

The dealer wanted my VIN, but I am thinking they just need it for records. Is it really required because there are two different brake levers on the 05-06-07 S3s?

If not, I need a place to order the brake lever from on the internet, I guess.

I had already dropped it and bent the lever back previously. I then let my buddy borrow the bike to do his MC driving test. He passed, but then dropped it in a parking lot after. The Skyking frame sliders (forward-mounted) did an incredible job of keeping my CRG LS mirrors and everything else perfectly in tact, but it bent the brake lever again and this time it broke.

So, anyway, no damage except the brake lever broke.

Does anybody know anything about the VIN questioning? I really would die before I give that out without a true reason for it.

My buddy supposedly has a brake lever on order already without the VIN, otherwise I would take offers up. I am now just curious about the VIN questioning.

The Triumph parts fiche (and the Bike Bandit site) use VIN numbers (last 6 digits only) rather than model years to differentiate between the different models. Even with my VIN, my dealer managed to order a bunch of 955 parts for my 1050. He even called Triumph (with me standing there) and they said they were the right parts. I'm like "Look at the [email protected] bike here on your showroom floor, this ain't the right part!" Sigh.
