While i had triumph of america on the phone today for a few questions i though i would ask them how to read a sprint vin.
So here you go... (This is for '05 plus sprint models, not sure if it works for other years or models)

SMT600PK08Jxxxxxx

SMT= World standerd certified Triumph
600= model, sprint st... 601 would be for ABS or GT model
P= engine, 1050cc
K= power, 128ps
0= check number, It just means that this is a real vin, and this number is derived by a bit of math pertaining to this vin....
8= year, it was made
J= where it was made, Hinckley england

Didn't know if this could be of any use to anyone, but here you go anyways...:D

Sprint RSs are model 605. My VIN is SMT605FSxxJxxxxxx. That would lend credence to Dave's theory about "F" meaning 955cc and "S" meaning 118HP.

I wonder if first gen 955s also get the "F"?

Fun trivia (assuming you're as geeky as me):

The "J" stands for Jacknell Road.

2004 RSs have two VINs, one for '03 and one for '04.

Interesting, Raptorryus. That looks a lot like a UK VIN, but those don't have the "J" for the factory in them. Looks like France has its own format.

605 is for the RS, F designates the 955, what hp does the M designate though?

OK, so now I'm confused! My UK (I hope!) bike, bought new by me from Carl Rosner in Sanderstead, has a VIN of SMTTF 6905 J524XXXXK. So, what do I own? For reference, it's an '05 Sprint ST, no ABS. I was trying to find the right TuneECU map for when I fit the TOR exhaust and non-cat link pipe. Any help would be appreciated.
