I have a chance to buy a 1975 RE5, the Buck Rogers version. It,s a one owner bike in fair shape but I,m a bit concerned about parts availability. Does anyone know of any clubs or parts outlets for these machines? I did a Google, but all I found was a few two stroke clubs. I hate to buy it and then find that I can't get parts to fix it. I suppose I could sell it for a parts bike if nothing else. Any ideas? By the way, the RE5 was Suzuki's rotary engined bike offered in '75 & '76 in the states. I think it lasted one more year in it's homeland.

Thanks:
David

I owned a 1976 version, non "Buck Rogers" version.
Big, heavy, lousy gas mileage, BUT you'll never see another one on the road.
Handles well for it's size/age. Accelerates pretty well, tons of tourque from idle.
Parts ? The carb is a horror, 2-stage 2 barrel.
Rotor seals, go see Mazda. Tires, shocks, no issues.

try these guys, I did a google on re-5 and found a bunch of sites.
Funky, totally different bike from anything you'll drive.

I'd want another just because it is so different.

If you buy a Rotary engine, there are a lot of things to consider. I've owned 3 RX-7s and my buddy Blake used to have an RE5.

Rather than typing it all out again, there was a really good discussion on Thumpertalk about it. Check this out:

Are those weirdo spark plugs still available?

The engine pulled extremely well for a bike of that era.

You're not really wanting to ride it much, are you? Just a few hundred miles a year is all I'd ride one.
Yes, the plugs are still available...
