here's Pelican cases:
a 1300 as a top case with a 1400 as a day trip case

and with a 1430 top loader as side cases

beauty of this system is cargo rack is same level as passenger footpeg, so using the combination, you can carry long toolboxes ect... and the sturdiness allows for mega weight, tho I have yet to test the full capacity.

I figure the 1430s on the side, the 1300 for tools and parts, and the 1400 above the 1300 for extra storage....a 4 case system, back rest/grab bar, and the forward pegs/skid plate I posted previously.

my next move is glass bead and paint satin black that will match everything else.

Do you have a front and rear pic of the Left and right side (top-loading) pelicans on the bike. I'm curious as to the width.
Where'd you get the racks?
How do the Pelicans attach to the rack? Are they easy to remove and do they lock on?
This is a great looking system from the side with pelican's on.
I'm not really into top-boxes though.
Thanks for sharing your innovations.

racks are as wide as passenger pegs down, cases add 1 1/2" to each side. the site specs say 11" wide, but that's due to the latches...the case is about 6" wide inside and wall is around 1/4. they can be tucked in tighter, but the lid open needs 2 1/2", so it's going to be a compromise.

I made them.
idea came from a Tim Remus photo of a TRW war bike.
metal came from Lowes and Home depot...maybe $30 or less in metal

the Pelicans are nicely waterproof, and I'm reluctant to alter that...they may get altered down the road, but while I'm building, they get strapped on. I like the Metal Mule attach system. I may do something like that.

it's a nice smallish box for tools, spare tube and patch kit, heat controller, gloves, map. water bottle and such without bungies and everything on display for the lowlifes. as a toolbox alone, it makes for a nice selection.

that 11" isn't right on the site, it's more like 9" wide with latches.
that spec made me hesitate to order a set, but after taking a chance, it turned out well...they're the right size for the visual, but with the rack design any size or shape, including a much larger box can be attached. with the passenger peg involved, you could strap a carpender's box on.

an alternate side case box is at Lowes, Harbor freight, ect...they have a nice aluminum attache case sized tool box (opens like a suitcase) for around $25 that would work well I think, and mimic the Metal Mules expedition look without the bulk. But I thought the Pelican black plastic with the lifetime guarentee at $55/per was the right one for me.

also note the rack size allows for the stock turn signal...I was tempted to shorten them and tuck them in a bit, but decided against it...thinking a fix on the road would be less drama with off the shelf parts...and minimalizing headaches are the name of the game.

utility over fashion.

Would love to use Pelican cases on my Bonnie. Most of Modre's pics have broken links, is there a chance we could get some fresh pics or info regarding this topic? Thanks.
