O.K. nothing happened didn't have an epiphany, DUI, car wreck or the like, but I have put up the bottle for good. *****, if I had known how good the wife would treat me after, I would have done it a long time ago. I got a brand new Parker Compound, and she volunteered to take the kids so me and a bud could go riding. There were a couple of extenuating circumstances that swayed my opinion, but thats for another time. Next drink I have, will be with my dieing breath, any suggestions. I am thinking Wild Turkey. Your thoughts if you will. :-g < that's a Coke

Drinkings ok in moderation, nothing wrong with a cold beer after mowing the lawn or a small tot of whisky or whiskey at night. Bit of alcohol in the bloodstream is supposed to be good for you as long as you're not driving.

Coke incidentally is bad for you as are all sugared soft drinks.

Everything in moderation, drink too much water and you'll drown.

Ride on ! :)

It's impressive that you have this idea and the willpower to follow through with it. I myself enjoy a nice drink of icy cold beer or savory whiskey on occasion. But I realize it's important to not get too drunk on a regular basis, but rather to drink in careful moderation. Best of luck to you with your abstinence from alcohol.

Good for you Joe, it's a personal decision and only you know if you need to make it.

As tbird says moderation is the key, for me that works, it's not hard to get carried away though. You have to do what's right for you.

One of my best bike trips was in NC. My sis lives in Greeneville, TN. Maybe next summer we'll do the whole thing: BR Parkway to Skyline Dr etc.

Good on you Joe. As Steve said, it's a personal decision. Have a good new year.

Some of the feedback remind me of two hagar comics:
1) All things in moderation (including moderation) - now that's my motto :)

2) Hagar is opening a bottle of wine to let it breath, next slide he's guzzling the bottle, next slide he's explaining to Lucky Eddie (or Helgar I can't remember) that the wine wasn't breathing and it needed mouth to mouth.
