Hi:

Last week I put a set of Pazzo levers on my 05 Bonneville. Over the weekend I took a two-hour drive and everything seemed fine. When I parked the bike afterwards, it occurred to me to check that the brake light came on and off when the lever was squeezed and released. It doesn't. The brake light just barely sticks on when the brake lever is released.

1) Is there something I am overlooking? something I need to adjust? (I did grease the pivot bolt and surfaces where the lever contacts the bracket.)

2) In order to make the clutch lever clear my bar-end mirror at all span settings, I moved the switch module toward the handlebar clamp about 1/4". I can still easily operate the switches. Do you see anything wrong with this solution?
Thanks in advance,

John

Curious. I can't think of anything on the brake lever module which might be prevented from working simply by repositioning it as you have described. I've moved mine around a fair amount without loosing the brake light.
Only two things come to mind: 1) you might have gummed up the little switch button in the module with the grease (unlikely, as it seems to be quite robustly sprung), and; 2) you might have pulled a connection in the wiring as you repositioned the lever. Either that, or your new levers are, in some way, incompatible.
Just out of interest, does the same happen with the switch inside the clutch lever housing? This might be tested by operating the clutch and engaging 1st gear whilst the side stand is fully out (with the engine running). If the engine cuts out automatically (with the lever still pulled all the way in), this would imply a similar problem with the clutch module switch.
I hope this helps.

Thanks. Actually, the only lever I repositioned was the clutch lever and adjoining switch module (turn signal, horn). The only thing I did on the clutch side was replace the lever. But I didn't change the position of the bracket/switch module (starter/kill switch) on the clutch side.

I didn't do the test you suggest on the clutch side, but that sounds like a good idea. I'll check it this coming weekend.
