Puddles

I know that most are aware of my revulsion at the sight of 4X4 vehicles and the way they are driven, but had a very close call with one early last week.
It had been raining. There were a few shallow puddles on the road. Came up behind a very slow BMW tank thingy. Overtook on a straight, doing about 80-thought it was a safe overtake. Not true. The driver of the large black tank decided to try to occupy the right hand lane TO AVOID A PUDDLE!!! Near miss. And the stupid sod flashed me!
I do try to anticpate idiocy in car drivers, but this takes the biscuit. A 4X4 driver who doesn't want the car's wheels to get wet. Another lesson in the the frank madness of people who own these piles of *****.

Must have been making an vital phone call so didn't see you!
Hope you punched his/her wing mirror off! Fuggin aerosol
So it's not just me. I think that BMW x5s are the worst driven of ALL 4x4s. That's whether I'm on 2 wheels or four wheels. I'm always extra cautious around them. And dare I say this? Most seem to be driven by.....women. What do you think.
I used to have an old Jeep and the main fun would be AIMING at the puddles with the windscreen wipers going full tilt (unless there was someone else in the way obviously). If the kids were in the back they loved it.. heck.. didn't need the kids in the back though.

What a nonce this guy was. I would have to add the Merc 4x4's as well for poorly driven tanks. I sat in a friend's once - you cannot see behind you except with the rear view mirror, the side mirrors are useless and there's a great fat pillar right by your shoulder.. so be warned. If you come up behind one of these - they CANNOT see you.
Are these the same lot who have a powerful car and insist on sitting at 40mph in a sixty limit (straight clear road, perfect conditions etc.)....then enter a thrty and keep going at 40mph!

You can almost hear them say 'dangerous things, those motorcycles' as you pass them.

Jon
I thought that was little old ladies in Rewnault 5s who were told that the best MPG was achieved by sitting at 50. Everywhere. Whatever.
But your point is spot on.
These must be the same pillocks who sit in the outside lane of the M66 with no one else around doing 60 mph and then get upset and start flashing you when after 5 minutes of sitting behind them you under-take them

I agree anyone with a German 4x4 has bought it to look cool not go off roading and usually need a brain transplant .

i,ve had a couple of close calls on the motorway with these numptys usually talking on a mobile .
If these people learned to use the nearside lane traffic would flow better and there would be no need to build a fourth lane as is being proposed in many places. Travelling on the parts of the M62 where there are four lanes I often find lanes 1 + 2 nearly empty and 3 + 4 congested.

The quickest way to drive round the M25 at any time other than 3 in the morning is to be on the left-most lane, and pull out to overtake the trucks and caravans you pass. Forget lanes 3,4 and/or 5. The trouble with these multi lane motorways now being built is that the p1ss-poor lane discipline that used to be a problem is now endemic.

They have any lane discipline....???

I just thought nearly everyone else who used the motorway and had four wheels was just bloody ignorant.
bmw 4x4s and even worse porsche 4x4s, still all german. I have a thing about saab drivers, even though a friend has a Saab and hes a very dear friend, Saab drivers just seem to be scaty as hell and never see you, or want to race you... either one is just a pain in the arse.

I've just finnished riding across Thailand so over here lane disipline seems fantastic. Over there its about size that rules, i could be in the fast lane and alongside a bus, the bus even knowing that im there would just indicate and move into my lane forcing me off the road. twice i ended up on grassymuddy verges. or the opposite direction double car overtake that make you have to use what little hard shoulder they have over there, its either that or be struck head on. :hammer:
Treehugger, ask your Saab driving friend how he likes his Vauxhall Cavalier. Problem solved.
