Ok, I have done the search and read part of the problem, nothing I can find that solves my problem.

I am planning on hooking a battery tender up to my bike through the powerlet plug.

The problem, I have the tender, I have a plug but they are not matched together. On the powerlet plug which is negative and which is positive on the bike so I don't mess something up hooking the plug in the wrong way.

Any help here is a bonus. I looked in the service manual it shows the connections but does not mark pos or neg.

Thanks,

Dr. Lance

This doesn't answer your question, but it may solve the issue. Why not wire an adapter directly to your battery and leave it under your seat with it easily accessible for connecting to the charger? Most chargers for this size battery come with a small connector with a positive and negative wire that go directly to the battery posts. Tuck it under your seat, but available with a little needle nose or something like it.

Works for me and no problems. Good luck.

I am 99% sure that the center pin is positive. I will check this when I get home if nobody else chimes in. If it's a brand name battery tender, though, it shouldn't hurt anything to connect it backwards. It'll probably just turn on a red light and not do anything.

I figured based on the ground needing to connect before hot is applied, as most plugs with metal showing, the outer section is negative ground.

Thanks for the help.

As per connecting to my battery, I already have a warmandsave.com plug wired onto the battery, does not leave much thread left on the battery terminals.

doesn't the battery tender adjust accordingly so it knows when you have it hooked up the wrong way round? I used to plug mine in to the outlet and it was never a problem. I did hook up a connector to the batttery so I could power up my tank bag too. Now I use that to connect my tender.
