I've removed all the lacquer and started to polish the corrosion out but should I repeat or just polish regularly?

Are the parts on or off the bike?
If off, consider vapor honing. It gives the aluminum a nice even satin finish which can be polished to a mirror shine, and the process seals the surface helping prevent future oxidation.
If you don't want to go that route, I would not re-lacquer, you would just be inviting corrosion to form under it again.
Just polish occasionally.

I tried a product called "Sharkhide." It's quite expensive, but the smallest conatiner is probably a lifetime supply. It seems to be holding up well, but the bike has been off the road for what seems like 10 years since I put it on... (actually, 5-1/2)
