Daytona & Speed triple Engine compatability.

As many modern Triumph engines are 955 displacement I was wondering how different the internals and casings are. The Daytona 955i has the most power so is it possible to swap a Speed triple head with that from the higher power Daytona and have virtually the same engine is the gearing different too?

The reason I ask is because my 05 Daytona 955i engine broke a rod and caused all kinds of damage from top to bottom.
I can get a 04 Speed Triple engine complete quite cheap and a head from my 05 Daytona. Will that work?

Is the bottom end engineered to take the extra horsepower?
the daytona revs much higher who says the oil pump is good for the increased oil supply?
or the cooling system can take that?

really doesn't sound like a good idea, would probably blow the new triple motor and spend a lot of money and time on it.

Shock interchangeability

Hi all. Was wondering if shocks between sssa daytona 955 and speed triples are the same? I have a chance to buy a 2003 hyper pro for a speed triple but I have a 2000 daytona. I looked at the triumph parts fiche and the part numbers are the same exept the last number. From what I've gathered so far, the only difference is the shock length. Any body have any idea if it'll work!

Hi all,
Anyone know if there are any engine casings of any other years/models that would fit the '04 d955i? My little broter low-ssided his '04 and ground through the left-hand-side casing. I managed to do a temp repair with JB Weld but it has now started to weep through so i'm looking for a replacement and casings for that year seem to be rarer than unicorn crap. Other year casings pop up and look the same but looking and fitting are very different. I assume that there will be several that do fit as so many other models and years use the same or similar engines, i just don't know for sure. I searched on the site and through this thread but can't find a definitive answer.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Traff.

An important find by DEcosse!!

He found a replacement 97-01 daytona thermostat for about $30 cheaper than OEM!
The stant 35279 replaces the OEM thermostat, and it opens at 86C, so just a hair warmer than stock, but negligible. (OEM is 85C)

I have yet to install it, as I'm replacing fork seals as of now; but it's identical in appearance to the factory tstat.

Parts interchangeability List

Moderator Note: - General reminder for posting in this thread
- this is for Q & A about what fits - NOT to be used for solicitation or offer of parts.
Might want to change the title as some cultures associate "swap" with trade/barter/sell.

Exhaust systems

No it will definitely NOT - the diameter is much bigger on the header piper on later model
Does this also mean that it will not mate up at the engine exhaust ports? I've been offered an aftermarket race spec stainless header and can, confirmed for earlier (97-01), but not for later models like my 04'. My 98' has the same manufactures can (that i like), but I do not desire to make the 595 any louder; as I plan on converting it to a Sport Tourer. The 955 will be straight up Hooligan w/ no SPL limit.
So the question: Are there any parts of the Exhaust sytem between the 2 generations that can be swapped/exchanged over?

Vendor question

Hi everyone:

On this subject of parts interchanging...

One of the US OEM parts websites (partsfish.com) had a great feature where you could enter in the factory part number of the specific model of the bike you were researching, and it would list ALL of the other bikes that this part also used on. I wish they sold Triumph parts, but they don't.

Do any of the Triumph parts sites have that ability?

Thanks very much!

I am looking for a rear brake lever for a 2001 Daytona 955i. DSSA model. On the WoT website there are two part numbers with no explanation, but the cost for one is double the other! Is there a replacement from other makes or models please.
