2000 Daytona 955i Engine cases

Hey Everyone-

Does anyone know if the clutch cover case and clutch hardware that get installed in it are compatible with a 1998 Daytona? Been offered a 2000 Daytona 955i as a project bike and when I went to look at all the parts the clutch side cover is missing!! When I priced new ones with all the hardware I couldn't believe how much the case and all the parts to rebuild the insides of it were! My friend has a clutch cover case with all the parts off of a 1998 955i. Do you think this case would work and could I still be able to make the clutch cable work with this set-up??? Any advice is much appreciated and THANX!!

I believe not, I've always been advised that the spring attached ones (with the two tangs you can see in that picture) will not fit later models. Which is obviously a bummer, and part of the reason, the earlier ones are much cheaper second hand.

Is anyone aware of a MC swap that will work on a 2003 'Tona (maybe Suzuki?)... The prices for the Triumph unit are outrageous!
Allegedly a GSXR 1000 MC will work on the Triumphs. If you want one, I may have an OEM MC from an '02.

anyone been able to confirm this? I have a '97 T595 and i'm looking for an alternative front MC. :dunno
I've been told an '04 R1 MC works, but the lines also must be replaced due to a different banjo bolt curve (Thanks DEcosse!)

The bike comes with a 14mm piston MC and I replaced mine with a 5/8" and get a more responsive feel to lever. I installed a 02 Kawasaki ZX9 Front MC on my 98, but it doesn't have an easy mount for the reservoir so I just ordered 99-07 Hayabusa MC that has the built in MC.

A 5/8" mc that fits (I can't speak for reservoir mounting, sorry) can be found on 02ish gsxr 600 or 750, honda fireblades (900rrw vintage), ZXR750 or a 99-07 busa + many others. I think our brake lever bolts straight on to most of those as well... I'm not 100% certain of that tho. but I am confident enough to not order a new lever with the MC I'm getting.

Edit: the brakes stop the bike just fine with both a 14mm or 5/8" MC. I like the feel of the 5/8's better. ymmv

Any radial master will likely require lines to be replaced
For non-radial pretty much any nissin cylinder will work - pre-05 GSXR and a host of other bikes are form/fit replacement, even the lever - some bikes use 14mm, other 5/8" - number is stamped right on the cylinder.
You can even use the Hayabusa one with the built-in reservoir.

Switched out the triumph oem front MC with the 5/8" bore kit from skyking which gives a longer speigler front brake line that can be used to eliminate the over the fender line that goes to the left front caliper if you choose to. Really happy with the front brakes now-strong but not too grabby. Also put sinitered pads on the front brakes. Would highly recommend this as a replacement upgrade...now if i can find an old kawi rear mc cylinder to rebuild maybe i wouldn't have to stand on the rear brake pedal to get it to do much of anything!!!

+1 on the sintered pads.
I started running these for track days, now I won't use anything else.
They give power and feel wet and dry.

I've been poking around their site, good stuff on there for the early T595 models. And that new MC is very, very tempting... but $200 is more than i can swallow right now with a baby on the way.
this daytona i have wont be a track monster, or even ridden that hard i don't think. maybe rebuilding this MC would be the way to go.

i would at least like to replace the lines though... maybe some neat translucent yellow/gold housing over steel braided to match the strontium yeller paint :thwack

When I was at the local cycle gear store I saw some galfer ss braided lines for a kawi that looked suspiciously close to the dual front lines directly from the front mc when the over the fender setup is eliminated. Anyone know the applications for which kawasaki lines would work?? I know on the UK boards there are daytona riders replacing their front mc's with a suzuki bandit front mc that has the built-in square reservoir which seem to be working out for them. Don't recall the specific model range application though.
