Isn't there a flip-up gas cap with an insert that alleviates the problem of paint chips falling into the gas tank on the Adventurer? What's out there and/or what are the remedies for this problem?

I don't know what the material is, but years ago my shop painted the inside and rim of the neck with a black, fuel and water-proof sealant. They mentioned it might have been for boats.

Bella Corse has a Monza Fuel Cap at $139.99 intended for the new Bonnevilles but they fit our tanks too, I think.

New Bonneville has a Monza fuel cap with a description that says it also fits Thunderbird and Legend tanks:

I put the Monza cap from Bella Corse on my Legend -looks great and works well but to get the cap to align correctly, I had to install extra gaskets. Haven't tried it but the page for the Monza cap from New Bonneville says that no extra gaskets are needed for alignment. Something to check into before you make your choice.
