What about the oncoming minivan driver that hit caspianthruxton? This person has to live with this the rest of his/her life, as we'll never get over loosing caspianthruxton this poor person will have to deal with this every day! My thoughts also go out to the minivan driver.

I feel like I can avoid most accidents by being a cognizant and conscientious rider, but you can't avoid left turners and deer.

Be careful boys. People at home wait for your safe arrival.
Man, you said it. For a bit of proof, check the following link and read the story carefully. If you aren't sure who Larry Grodsky was, rest assured he was a consumate professional motorcyclist.

I fell victim to one of these "left turners" last august, which completely destroyed my thruxton and almost myself. My parents got a phone call from the police saying that if you want to say goodbye to your son while he is still alive you had better get to the hospital now. Luckily for me, the surgeon was on time. I am a police officer and have seen many accidents in which the motorcyclist contributed in some manner to the accident (speed, erratic driving..etc) even though technically (legally) it was the other drivers fault, but I have to say, in my case anyway, that I was driving carefully and below the speed limit when this young woman made the left-hand turn at a high rate of speed and took me out. She told the investigating officer that she didn’t see me, even though it was a nite and my light was working. Anyway, as it has been said many times, drivers just don’t see motorcycles and we have to be ridiculously careful while driving our bikes. Im sad to hear about caspianthruxton as I enjoyed reading his threads and even seriously considered getting a Triumph tattoo as a result of that thread. I hope he rests in peace.

Incidentally, while I was recovering from my wounds in the hospital, another motorcyclist was recovering from hitting a deer.
