I've almost finished overhauling my carbs, but one thing remains. When I took the rubber diaphragms out, they appeared to be slightly oily. I've cleaned them off, but now I'm wondering if they were supposed to be like this. Should I spary them with light oil before putting them back on the bike?

Screene,The diaphrams are meant to be dry. They can get oily if the crankcase has been overfilled and oil has been blown out the breather which exits into the airbox.Clean them off and hope the oil hasn't caused the rubber to expand too much otherwise you will play hell trying to get them back in place.

Thanks wd. Mine seemed to be just slightly lubricated rather than dirty as such... maybe someone sprayed them with silicone lubricant in the past. They seem to fit fine.
