Not sure if this is getting a little too anal or not, but I followed the instructions for refilling the fork oil on my 02 Daytona forks. The shop manual said to remove the top washers, spacer and spring. Fully compress the shock and then fill to 78mm from top. What about the position of the damping rod? It obviously slides up and down. Does it make any difference if it is pulled all the way out or just let it slide down to where it is actually all inside the fork tube? Not sure if this makes any difference at all but was wondering if the position would displace more oil and therefore give me a different reading if I was measuring from the top. Thanks.
