When is Triumph going to get back in touch with their customer base?

I believe this is the 3rd year or 4th year without Triumph having a display at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show.

I love my Sprint but I am having a hard time feeling any love the company!


Any thoughts?

Have to agree, kinda lame for a major manufacturer to not be there... wasn't aware of the history, and just assumed they would be in NYC in Jan.... was hoping to check out the new bars before having to throw down dough to try 'em for real; and it woulda been nice to discuss my concerns for the headlamp set up / alternatives with someone...

My thought is that I am Triumphed out. Now that I have my '06 Sprint ST, I don't really need to look at any more of them. If I want to see the latest and greatest from Triumph I just go to my local dealer and get more personal attention that way. I am going to the show in San Mateo, CA, USA this weekend to look at ALL the OTHER makes and models. I don't feel hurt that Triumph is not represented there. Besides, most of the time you're lucky if you get any of the reps that really know what they are talking about regarding their own specific bikes. I like it that I'm with a few who own and ride Triumphs around my parts.

Not a big deal, imo. I would rather the chance to ride one when the van rolls into town than stare at one from the other side of a rope listening to some sales rep.

No biggie, at 10,000 units a year I would rather they put the money into R&D. I can see bikes at the local dealer.

We`ve been here quite a few times but don`t worry, it`s always an interesting thread. The shows cost a lot of money and Triumph have figured that it`s better spent elsewhere. They are selling everything that they can make, so they`re obviously doing something right. Let`s face it, most of the people who complain that Triumph are missing from the shows are already riding a Triumph and are familiar with the product range.

Triumph are making record sales and are struggling to keep up with demand. They`ve shown a bigger percentage increase in sales and production than any of the big four in the last 2 years, despite being absent from most of the shows, so if you contact them and tell them that they`re doing it all wrong, don`t be surprised if they don`t listen.

Better to be a fashion leader, than a fashion follower!

I couldn't give a toss if Triumph love me or not. Down here Triumph keep in touch with its customer base though a great local dealer. The point is that I don't need some person from the factory telling me how good I am for buying a Trumpy. What I need is some person at the factory to keep making good motorcycles for me to ride and enjoy. Maybe you should be speaking to your tight fisted dealers about putting displays on. Down here in Tassie our local dealer put on a great display at the local auto show. Anyway that my two bob's worth

I feel exactly the same Jeff! I haven't been bothered to go because of this.

I have to agree 100% here! You can't argue with success! Their model plan the last couple of years has been spot on! (ERR, except for dropping the 955 Daytona that is) :???:

Obviously you've never been to a motorcycle show.

They dont rope off the bikes, all bikes are available to sit on and stand up off the kickstand.

The ONLY bikes that were roped off this year at the IMS show in Long Beach were the customs and the ooooooold bikes.

Heres proof, this is me on the new daytona 675 at the IMS show. Sadly it was the only triumph that socaltriumph brought to the show.

and therein lies your error... they are NOT a major manufacturer... 2005 numbers showed them with a .06% share of the global market, with around 11600 units sold... ( BMW has slightly larger market share with 12,500 sold in the same 05 period)

The two market leaders are Harley and Honda each having sold approx 250,000 units in that same 05 period.

Given TOA is selling almost everything they bring in... almost being as there always seem to be a few leftovers in the woodwork,, but I'd guess they are returns or dealer stock... who knows.... .. why spend BIG bucks, esp at the NY show, if they won;t gain any near term revenue....

... and given the amount of press they garner in the industry trade publications, it isn't like they need to get out there and prove anything to anyone....

when they get to the point where they have excess production capacity, they'll be in the shows...

I'd much rather see T put money into salving the communication/warranty/dealer situation, rather then see them blow it on a bunch of trade shows...

"Obviously" you haven't been going to the IMS shows long. Triumph, stress TRIUMPH, not socaltriumph, has a history of putting their latest and greatest up on a pedistal, where no one can touch it. First year Rocket, first year 1050 Sprint, first year 1050 Speed Triple, etc. Alot of us who were considering the 1050 Sprint when it first came out were alittle pissed when we wern't allowed near one at the IMS show.

I've been to all the St Louis, and one Chicago IMS. They're interesting, but something is lacking in the overall show. Maybe it's because I'm not trying to comparision sit a bunch of bikes every time. Or I would rather get a look at a bike without jockeying for position with a dozen plus other lookers. I'd like more vendors too.

Actually they DID have representation at the Long Beach Show.
South Bay Triumph represents Triumph every year and they had a whole isle to themselves.
They did have some bikes on display just not a Sprint.
