No oil leaks, no fuel leaks, no backfiring when I back off, no jetting problems or paint peeling issues .... worse than that, I have nearly a foot of snow in the driveway and 20 degree temperatures midday, and prospects of lots more of the same. There's no cure other than moving. I wanna go on a ride ...... a long ride!

Thanks for the words of encouragement from all you guys from the Lone Star State.

The good news is .......... the International Motorcycle Show takes place today/tomorrow here in Cleveland. I'll meet up with some long-time riding buddies, go to the show, then it's off to the grungiest hot dog shop with the best dogs and steamiest windows in the state of Ohio. It's an annual tradition. Nice to have an event in late January where you can go to smell the leather.

Sweat, good luck, ya got all the torque specs and disassembly/assembly instructions memorized?

sweatmachine,

It is supposed to be nice today. I've been in the Soviet Republic of NJ all week for work and I'm riding no matter what. Fortunately, next week I have to put on about 800 miles of riding for work. My saying is, "No ice, will ride."

So at any stage of your project, let me know so I could watch the pro at work and learn me somethin'.

Bob,

I don't feel sorry for you anymore since you're going to the International Motorcycle Show and I'm not. Please send us all a report of what you see. Pictures would be appreciated. You can leave out the chopper info.

"Pro" haha, I appreciate your vote of confidence though. I figure I'll drop you and Whoa a line when I get the parts back from machining since that will be more interesting. I think that'll be another month or so. Arg.

Last weekend, we had overnight temps in the teens. I've had my bike stored in my uninsulated shed for a few weeks. Even with the battery tender on, the bike would not crank over. It's been so warm here this winter, realized I had not put in any Stabil. Later in the week, temps warmed to the 40's and the bike fired.

I moved it back to our insulated garage, but it goes back down so I can working room for my '66 chopper. At least that is something to do while it's not conduicive to riding here in MD.
