Love how you hid the mini cones by tucking them in and painting them black.
At first glance it looks like your running open pipes. Very sly indeed.

Looks like it might be a little too loud for my and the neighbors' tastes.

there are two silencers under the engine (the slightly fatter section) and the two cones are silenced also so its quieter than you might imagine. i don't think they are as loud as preds (maybe even doms) although i've not had chance to put it side by side with a pred equipped bike yet but i have the option of adding db killers if i need to.

Bitchin' exhaust! Super nice looking. I'd love to hear a sound clip of those!

thanks clint i'll see what i can do (need to find someone who can point a video camera while i do a ride by)

hi checkers yeh don't play poker with me!
i do have the option of running open pipes if i want, the rear cones and swan neck section are slip jointed and spring retained (as are all the joints).

At first glance it looked like you had straight pipes. I have had loud exhaust systems before and find them be annoying and fatigue inducing. Enjoy

just thought i'd share a picture of my new tt style exhaust, now it sounds like a bonnie should
Mike...

I'd like to see that pic, but there's no link on the post. I was looking at the tt from D&D, but was weary of the sound. I ended up with their dual full exhaust with the short megs in titanium. Still waiting for the pipes to arrive...should be early next week.

hmmm! were you expecting a pic of the d&d tt exhaust, this is my own custom fabricated tt style exhaust its in the pic in your post.
it has what i consider many improvements on the d&d, namely:-
proper tapered headers not just a stepped pipe
balance pipe between the under belly silencers with a lambda sensor take-off
spring retained slip joints to make it easier to take of to do oil+filter change (and spring retained joints look much cooler!)
tucked in tighter under the engine for better ground clearance
better noise suppresion from the under belly silencers and the mini cones
heres more pics from a different angle

Those sharp binds are not good going to the cones.Headers look kinda small they need to be 1 3/4.The d&d tt race pipes are to low to the ground but they make hp.Nice work but i think you need to rethink a few things.

hi mike me owd mate!
bare in mind this is a prototype exhaust so i'm not professing its perfect.
the bends are no more severe than those on the headers but also as i mentioned in my post above there is a balance pipe between the left and right pipes so the flow is shared.
the headers are only 46mm;)
i can't give you any numbers for hp as i am still running-in the BFTUK motor but seat of the pants dyno feels good so far

haha, still preaching the same gospel i see.
NOT Preaching I just have learned a few things over the years .Havent seen any dyno numbers on your pipes.Have you tested them yet?For your info what i tell others on here comes from many dyno runs from my self and others since 2007.When where chaseing the 100 hp mark with these motors. We learned alot about pipes on these bikes.

so far i've only done the ear test, the grin test and the eye test and mine passed all of them by my standards and that's exactly what's important to me. and I'm sure those TT pipes will satisfy exactly that crowd with similar standards, heck look at the amount of people just running headers.

saschagast i'm very pleased that your bc 2-1 system met your main criteria i think they're a very cool looking system aswell, and i hope you don't get to up set if they don't let your bike break 100 hp, personally given the choice between a bike with a bc 2-1 making say 70hp or a ugly d&d 2-1 making 75hp i,d take the bc equipped bike, thats the great thing about these triumph twins theres something for everyone.
this has got me thinking now if this system does'nt let my bike make 100hp should i saw it up into little pieces then squash those pieces flat with a big hammer then go for a ride on my 130hp zxr805?.

I agree the 2into1 d&d is not pretty but its fast .Thats why I run there new 2into2 full system that looks better ,sounds good ,and still makes more power then most.None of us know for sure if the bc 2into1 makes much power. To me its not as pretty as alot of other pipes out there the pipe with the crazy binds going under the motor is just dumb to me.Maybe they work I cant say they dont but would not be shocked if they dont.

Mike dont take it like i was putting down the work you have done on your pipes .The work looks first class just need to look everything over alittle.Do some testing after you get your motor run in and see what works and what dont. That way in the end you will have done it right and will be proud.

That's not preaching, it's common knowledge for any exhaust builder. Why put a performance exhaust on a motorcycle, when it hinders performance? People just don't buy exhaust for sound alone. Well at least people who understand performance and better sound can be achieved in one. Oh yea, running open headers does really nasty things with valves.

My point exactly, the gain is so minimal on a bike that's not that fast to begin with. If you would have had a good looking TT pipe about a year ago, I might have gotten one, I love the look off TT pipes. I looked at the D&Ds but the ground clearance is just silly.

Most any bike out there will out run our thruxtons, stock bike without mods. Sure I wanted performance but if you squeez out another 5hp, I couldn't care less. And I agree, the d&ds might make power but sound horrible. I'm riding with a friend who has them, not loving the sound, let alone the finish and he has the 2in2. Way too tinny for my taste, but yeah, we all love different things.

I really hope you get thoseTT pipes all worked out. They make me happy

Hindering, yeah that's bad, possibly being ok with 3-5 less horses over the top contender but preferring the sound and finish, for sure. We are talking bikes that have 69hp stock.

Funny thing, I actually like my scrambler better, and it has even less horse power

Ahhh, but here's the key. As you make internal modifications such as; cams, head work, pistons, etc you need an efficient exhaust to enhance the additonal hp of those changes and vice versa.

So you agree, they need all the help they can get in the hp department. Me I'd go for the top contender every time. The more efficient the pump is running, the better I feel. Sound, secondary always.

Mike is right though, with all the bends in the pipe it's not very efficient. Plus, these twins need a longer exhaust run, not a shorter one. Everyone seems to think the Moto GP style short exhaust is the ticket these days, it's not and most just look ugly.

These are; S t e e t bikes not purpose built r a c e bikes.
