Sold my 883 a few years ago, and recently picked up a 2006 America for my 110 mile daily commute. So far so good.

There are quite a few differences between the HD and Triumph.

I figured with the America having a smaller motor, the bike would be smaller, but the America seems more on par with a softtail than a sporty size wise.

HD was alot heavier than the America, both get around 50mpg so no big change there.

Two things the HD had the America does not are:

Tons of accessories, like 10 differnt pegs, etc, you can find whatever you are looking for.

And you don't get asked the most annyoing question of "Why didn't you buy a HD?"

I like though, that not everyone and thier mom ride a Triumph, makes my bike a bit more special.

And HD is a terrible value for the money. The bikes are nice, but IMO you are paying a big premium for the name.
