Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Gary. I'm originally from Cardiff in South Wales, but have also lived in the West & North Midlands. Spent a while in Switzerland & Norway, but that's another story! Meanwhile, I've been in South Africa some 23 years...

As far as bikes are concerned, I've had a variety, from Honda, Suzuki & BMW. My fav. was a BSA Gold Flash 1954 vintage which I rebuilt when I was 19!

I'm new to this forum and to Triumph, having just bought a '06 Speed Triple in September, to compliment my '06 Fireblade.

Enjoying the street-fighter in me and the bike! Have done a few mods, including chrome bar-end weights, R&G Racing front crash protector (frame sliders), rear spindle sliders and of course an R&G tail tidy. Sounds like an advert for R&G but with so few trick accessories for what is a pretty rare bike here in South Africa, I'm more than happy to find a local importer holding these 'trick bits.' Check their website out at www.rg-racing.com. They are based in Hampshire, UK. Right now my bike is in the shop having a water/oil radiator protector made up & fitted. Had it laser-cut from a sheet of brushed s/s -- including the Triumph logo. Should look pretty trick. Has been designed & built by a local firm. Once its finished, I'll post a pic to the site. In the meantime, warm greetings from a wet, wet wet Summer night here in Durban! Gary

Baie dankie / Diolch yn fawr iawn / Thank you for the kind welcomes, esp. from those South African's living outside of the Country. Be good to hear from my erstwhile welsh compatriots out there too! Just to note ditchrat69, I work at the University in Pietermaritzburg, hence I'll give the city your welcomes next week!

Once my bike is back from Powerflow, I'll post a jpg of the new radiator cowl. I'm hoping it'll look cool!

Welcome, dude. I`m a Welshman living in Australia, originally from Llanelli. Actually, let me rephrase that, I`m an Australian who was born in Wales.

BTW: When Australia play Wales at Rugby, who do you support?
Australia, of course! I have an Aussie flag Tattooed on my chest and am proud to be an Australian. I`m also proud to have come from Wales, I`m a Welsh speaker who was taught it as a first language but I`d like to make it quite clear that Wales is my past and Australia is my future. I`m not here just to visit, it`s where I`ve made my home.

Thanks for the Felinfoel link, brought back a few memories!

I envy you... Living in South Africa as I do, filled as it is with ever-growing rates of corruption, rape, murder and other violences, its difficult to be so patriotic... I have some good Aussie friends, and hence I can understand your love of the country.. One thing we do share of course is beautiful riding terrain and weather -- although I think our (lack) of stringent laws here in South Africa make for more engine (and particularly silencer!) mods, than possibly in Australia

The City Hall is still resplendent. The old justice buildings were badly affected by a fire the other week though -- having been empty for the past decade or more. See www.witness.co.za Added to this is rampant crime, drugs annd shootings at night in the city centre.. welcome to the new South Africa!

I have had my SIII since early September. Enjoying it like crasy!! Tried to book for the Bulwer Rat Run in early November but the Hotel was already fully booked six weeks previous... Tried a few B&Bs but lucked out. Eventually, thought of riding up for the day but the weather was against it... Maybe next years KZN Rat Run..?
