Hi I am Ken Cromer a retired full time student at Northern Kentucky University just south of Cincinnati. I am 63 years old and have been riding all my life. My first 2 wheeler was a 1961 Cushman super Eagle motorscooter. I had Hondas and Suzukis then my first new motorcycle was a 1968 BSA Lightening. I also had a 1970 Triumph Bonneville, a 1974 Triumph T140, a 1953 harley Panhead and then a 1978 T140. when Triumph and BSA folded I rode Harleys for years until they just got too damn heavy. I just bought a 1979 T140E on Ebay and plan on doing a mild restoration. It runs great it just needs some cosmetics and new paint. The worst mistakes made to it were an extended fork and a 16 inch Harley rear wheel. I might be able to live with the wheel for a while but those extended forks have got to go. If I could presume to ask a question, it has Frank fork tubes, can I just cut 8 inches off the bottoms of them or do I need new stock tubes?
