I've been hanging around here for last month or so soaking up all the interesting info and discussion. Didn't think I'd need to post anything until today. I have an early 06 Speedy w/ about 2k miles on it (bought it just over a month ago). Yesterday I was looking into the ubiquitous mushy front brake. I seem to have firmed up the lever a bit (probably temporarily) so I decided to take a test run. Hop on and turn the key - nothing! Well almost nothing, I have lights. Battery checks out as well as the fuses. The display head shows high beam and turn signals but nothing else. At this point I have to suspect the ECU has taken a dump. I've looked at past postings and can't find anything like this. Any thoughts? I'll have to load it on the truck and take it to the dealer this week.

Thanks Cheap. That did the trick. I figured it had to have been something simple. Musta hit the switch while working on the brake. Feel pretty stoopid now.

Heh, I embarassed the s**t out of myself this morning. Was getting ready to take off from the parking lot after breakfast at IHOP, and was too busy smiling at a couple of fine ladies that I forgot to put the sidestand up. When I kicked down to 1st gear, the engine killed itself and I make some panicked "***" reaction gestures.

The girls even laughed at me - so much for being a smooth operator. :-D

Good thing you didn't take speedy in on a piggyback because of the kill switch. So what ever happend with the brakes, and what adjustments did you make.
I bled the system with only minor improvement. Pulled the pads and manipulated the pistons. That did the trick, the lever is pretty firm again. I found one piston is sticking tho'. Guess that's why coated replacement pistons appear to be on offer from Triumph. Test ride proofed it out. Even had a moron change lanes into me and provide me w/ an additional check out!

I was at a stop light the other day and accidentally kicked down the kickstand instead of hitting the clutch pedal. I lost the light and got several honks and several go to hell looks...LOL, but deep inside you know they were thinking

"#&!% arsehole, but *****, that sure is a spiffy bike"
