Cheers all,

So I've got a couple projects I'm considering and would like to see what you folks (The Brain Trust) really want.

1. I want to build a full header. I'll consult with some experts I know about optimum performance configuration, but are there any things that have come up with that you'd like to see? Anyone know if the configuration of the pre 05 955 moto is the same shape? I'm hoping it will be a good project because it will word on all current 1050 madels and also the last generation 955.

2. I've been kicking some ideas around with b (zooplancton--genious artist) about a restyle on the S3. I keep hearing the MCJ parts will show "next week". But even if they ever do, I'm not sure it really says all that I want to say. I want to style a whole body makeover that sort of leand toward a modernized classic flat tracker. Actually add a real rear fender, and a fly screen that ties into it.

3. new triple clamps. BURLEY, light, simple. At least 3 bolts on bottom and two on top.

If you have any sketches or pictures on the last two can you post them

If you have a header in the works.... I'll hold on getting the pipes and just get a whole freakin package! :-D

The triple clamps would be the **** as well! be nice if it had an optional bracket/clamp so you can make the lights/gauge cluster fork mounted.... that way the lights and cluster can be sucked in close and into a nice tight little package.

As for the whole flat track thing..... eh.... I like speedys current look

Squid,

You can count me in on the header to match up with the pipes I received from you a few weeks ago. I'm super impressed with the quality of manufacture, service, look, sound, and performance that they have added to my S3. Augmenting that with a header is just a bit of icing on the cake.

Let us know when you are getting close to finishing the header!

Thanks Again!

The headers on the 509 are different to the 955 from 99-02, then different again from 02 to end 04 when the 1050 came in which again has different headers...

So to cover the 955 you need tw slightly different sets and a third for the 1050 (and another if you want to do the early 509)
The good news is the 955 headers from 02 on will also fit the Daytona of those years too so will open up your market

Oldsquid, are you considering at any point doing a half system similar to the new Arrow and M4(?)? It looks the dogs b***cks with that open back wheel, I've read a lot of good stuff about your system I'm tempted to buy it but not 100% sure yet.

PS do you ship to RSA (South Africa)?

Thanks everyone. Keep those cards and letters comin'.

Got some great suggestions and some good pics off thread. So let me sumarize where we're at currently:

Exhaust/Header: A couple people have asked about the stubby moto gp style. That's actually a bigger problem than it might seem at first. Those systems work with muffler under the engine if they're not a big ugly thing on the side. most of the ones you see fitted to Japanese bikes are basically empty. They're just for looks. That means a whole different header under the engine. I also think that design is going to become outdated fairly quickly. And don't forget what that sort of setup may mean when it comes time to change the oil. So for now I'm thinking a remake of the stock to maximize looks and performance. Although the idea isn't dead. I have a multi option possibility bouncing around in my empty head.

Triple clamp: Avi8or was kind enough to send me some close ups of pretty much what I was thinking of. 3 bolts on the bottom and 2 on the top. Drunktank's thoughts also were something I want to do--provide a mouting option for the headlight and intruments that attach to the clamps and not the forks. I also want to make it so there are options for handlebar riser height and diameter.

Body work: I know its a little hard to see inside my head and I agree that the Speeder is pretty cool as is. However, I think the S3 is the ultimate working man's hot rod scooter. AND, I think it is an absolute AGELESS CLASSIC. There are elements of the current design that will probably stand the test of time, but others will become the "face only a mother could love". We, of course are those mothers, and will always love to stare at these babies. But there are bikes that have a style that will NEVER get old, and EVERYONE loves. Vincent Black Shadow comes to mind. I want to try to capture that. I have a shot of a HD that, amazingly enough, touches on the feel I think can do that. I'd post it but I'm an idiot and can never figure it out. Can I get some help? Its not really what I want, but it does get my juices flowing in what I think is the right direction.

So think about it with an open mind. I know there are some former S3 guys who went over to some of the more exotic Italians because they wanted that step up in exclusivity, and frankly, I find it hard to blame them. But those bikes will never be Triumphs. And the groups that ride them will never be Triumph guys (and gals). I realized that when I sort of tested the waters with some of them (Tuono and Brutale) and found that they love their bikes, but not with the get your hands dirty, make it bad, sit in the garage with a beer and stare at it for hours love that Triumph people have. So I've decided to pretty much stick exclusively with Triumphs, and S3's in particular.

blah, blah, blah,

Anyone willing to post some pictures? I also have some very, VERY, rough mockup shots of a first attempt I made with tape and cardboard on my bike that I could post. I'm usless with a pencil and paper.

Cheers mates!!

did you have problems with yours? This is the 1st I've heard of this... :hammer: Anyone else have any issues? Was you on the track, or did you have clearance issues on the street?

And Bob, you know you are gonna need someone to try all of these new products out. I will be more than happy to oblige. :-D

I wish I could say what the price will be. But that's a way from being nailed down. I will make it simpler without the numerous joints of the Zard. Should be no more than 2 pieces. Maybe even one. That all affects cost. I'll be pretty excited if I can sell them for anywhere near $500. That's what I'm hoping for. That would make a full system just a little more than a Zard. Welll see.

The front fender on that Storz bike is exactly what I'm needing for my '01 with GSXR front end!!!! Bob keep those juices flowing, I love the "flat track" retro look myself......and I don't care who knows. Come on on all you flat trakers, get out of the closet!!! Now where was that steel shoe.......?

Cheers,

Fred
