Not sure if this relates to what you are asking but I replaced the OEM things with gaiters on both my 2005 and 2007 Bonnys.

Yes, they go all the way up when fully fitted. I fitted them in 2008 and they are still perfect.
I got a spare set a couple of months ago on Ebay Trojan Classic British Motorcycle Spare Parts Genuine Triumph BSA Norton AJS Matchless Cafe Custom (trojanclassics.com) in the UK for AU $55.90 a pair. They are heavy duty rubber and very good quality - FORK GAITERS, FOR HINCKLEY TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE, T100, HEAVY DUTY (PAIR) A9638018. Only the top requires a clamp and the clamp is a standard clamp you will find in any harwared/auto store for a few bucks. Getting the pair all the way from the UK to OZ for only AU$56 (and they also came with clamps) is a pretty good deal, I reckon. As I said before mine are still in perfect condition since 2008 so I am sure they will last for years yet. Plus, these sorts of gaiters protect your fork seals from stone chips on the slider tubes. A very good investment.I looked them up, they're not cheap. $35 per gaiter, plus xtra for the clamp, and another price for the screw that goes into the clamp.

Sounds good. Just make sure they are the solid, heavy duty ones. There are a few el-cheapos (meaning poor quality) ones out there.
