Not sure if this relates to what you are asking but I replaced the OEM things with gaiters on both my 2005 and 2007 Bonnys.Does anybody have a picture of the NB gaiters they've put on their bike? Also, how do you like them?
Trying to find something that looks good for my 07 Bonny. The ones from Best for Brits look really good, but the shipping from the UK is always a bit much.
Any other suggestions?
I got a spare set a couple of months ago on Ebay Trojan Classic British Motorcycle Spare Parts Genuine Triumph BSA Norton AJS Matchless Cafe Custom (trojanclassics.com) in the UK for AU $55.90 a pair. They are heavy duty rubber and very good quality - FORK GAITERS, FOR HINCKLEY TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE, T100, HEAVY DUTY (PAIR) A9638018. Only the top requires a clamp and the clamp is a standard clamp you will find in any harwared/auto store for a few bucks. Getting the pair all the way from the UK to OZ for only AU$56 (and they also came with clamps) is a pretty good deal, I reckon. As I said before mine are still in perfect condition since 2008 so I am sure they will last for years yet. Plus, these sorts of gaiters protect your fork seals from stone chips on the slider tubes. A very good investment.I looked them up, they're not cheap. $35 per gaiter, plus xtra for the clamp, and another price for the screw that goes into the clamp.![]()
Sounds good. Just make sure they are the solid, heavy duty ones. There are a few el-cheapos (meaning poor quality) ones out there.I found a vendor that has what looks Identical to the one that jjanz has for 1/2 the price. Problem is , he's out of stock at the moment, but I got on a list to be notified when he gets some in.
Black zip tie is perfect.A black zip tie works fine as a "clamp".
FWIW, the aftermarket gaiters I got for my bike lasted over ten years while I had it and are still on the bike, as far as I know. I forget who was the vendor. I treated them with Armor-All a couple times per year, which had the extra benefit of cleaning them when I wiped them off.
I also was able to keep the bike mostly out of the sun, except when I was riding it, which I believe helps a lot. I was fortunate to have a garage at home and a parking garage at work.
