i have a 2005 bonneville that i wrecked and put up for a couple of months that has old gas in it. what would be the best way to drain the tank? any tips would help!

If you want it all out, take the tank off because some gas will be on the right side. You'll need to tip the tank so it sloshes to the left. Just drain it from the petcock. .

it's super easy to simply remove the tank entirely, remove and clean the petcock while it's off and flush the tank thoroughly, you may want to put new gas lines on as well. It's an 05 so you may want to consider adding a small filter just after the petcock and before the carbs to keep her clean.
Be on the lookout for the red inside tank paint from the factory, there are a lot of posts regarding a red powdery stuff along with small medium and large flakes of paint inside tanks clogging the petcock screens.....if you do flush the tank, do it through a tshirt or other filter medium just to catch the residue and look it over.
